I have always been a bargain shopper. Unless I am looking for a very specific item, I search the sale or clearance section of a store before even allowing myself to look at full priced options (which I still typically don’t even look at) and I do this when shopping online too. I think it’s a great tactic to use to save money and scoring a great deal always puts me in a good mood.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite splurge items and their similar, more affordable counterparts for those of you that are looking to save money while creating the perfect outfit of the day.
Now, although I’m a big fan of deals (when a quality item is discounted it is my favorite) and a big believer in “you get what you pay for”. I have had it happen time and time again that I buy a less-than product simply because of it’s smaller price tag only to be disappointed and have to replace it soon after. So remember what you are wanting out of a piece when you buy it. If you live in Seattle it might be best to go with a higher quality rain boot such as Joules or Hunter but if you live in Honolulu and rarely need them a cheaper option may be best for you. If it’s a very trendy piece or super seasonal and you plan to only wear a few times I prefer a cheaper item of less quality where as I would more likely splurge on something like a high quality coat that I would wear frequently for years.
I have had these Hunter boots pictured for over a year and love them! I am a short girl at 5’4” and prefer this shorter version on myself but they also come in a taller rain boot option too.
One of my favorite ways to accessorize and add flair to any outfit is with a scarf. I have this scarf pictured on the left and find it so versatile! I recently wore it while traveling this summer and it’s such a nice weight/material; lightweight enough to wear in July yet warm enough to shield me from the breeze of the airplane. The tassel detail is the perfect added touch!
Patagonia and The North Face are both brands known for high quality, high performance apparel. I tracked down and found a similar dupe puffer coat and you’ll never guess which large retailer it is from. If you are going to splurge on a particular item, a winter coat would be a good piece to do it on but sometimes budget doesn’t allow or you want an additional coat simply to have another color or style option without spending a lot on it so in those cases, save!
MCM pieces and high quality and timeless and this neutral tote is the perfect year round staple piece. If you are looking for a similar bag with a not so similar price tag, here is another great option! I have this tote (in dark brown) and am super happy with it! It holds so much and is well made.
I love the fit and quality of Paige denim. This distressed denim pair is the perfect color and style to be worn year round, both dressed up and dressed down. Another one of my favorite brands of women’s jeans is Articles of Society. They are so comfortable and affordable and what I wear most often.
Everyone knows about the classic black Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots. They are timeless, versatile and so cute but also come with a hefty price tag! I have found a similar, much more affordable version for anyone looking to create the look without spending nearly as much. The Enzo Angiolini boots linked are still over $100 but considerably less than the splurge version.
I hope you have enjoyed this comparison of “splurge versus save” staple pieces for fall. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! Do you own any of these? Which is your favorite? And what piece are you post excited to wear this fall?

If you know me, you know I love matching my minis! Mommy and Me sets are always so fun but when we saw these matching unicorn slippers from Dearfoams my girls and I could not have been more excited!
My daughters are 2 and 5 years old and both obsessed with unicorns. They were squealing with delight as we unboxed these slippers; it was priceless seeing the sweet looks on their faces. They didn’t want to take them off and even requested to sleep in them. But really, what girl isn’t obsessed with unicorns?
Thank you to Dearfoams for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
If you’re in need of a gift for a girl of any age this is something she is sure to love! As an adult I love the gorgeous, cream colored, cozy fluffiness that these slippers are and the added unicorn detail comes as a sweet bonus but for many kids the unicorn is what catches their interest initially, it’s so fun!
My girls think it’s so cool that Mom matches them and it makes my heart so happy to hear that they want to match and be just like me. We have already had cozy nights around the fire and movie marathons cuddled up wearing these slippers and I know many more memories are to be made including them. My mom saw us wearing them and fell in love too so I think we’re going to have to get grandma a pair!
As you can tell, we have been so happy with our new Dearfoams slippers! They provide the comfort of home anywhere and anytime: I can’t wait to pack them with us on our next getaway! The exceptional comfort, style and quality has been around for 70 years and with a billion pairs sold, you know your feet are in good hands!

I'm so excited to share my latest find with you guys: Victoria Emerson! Their jewelry is gorgeous, versatile, and so well made! I first shared one of their bracelets with you in an Instagram story and you all fell in L-O-V-E so I knew I had to plunge in with all the deets! Victoria Emerson carries a variety of stunning pieces ranging from necklaces, watches, wrap bracelets and my personal favorite: boho cuffs.
The boho cuffs are inspired by travels around the world and named after various cities and regions. There are both Classic and Mini Boho Cuff options. I guarantee you will have a hard time choosing just one as each of these pieces are equally stunning! I love the variety of beads, colors and textures used. Everything ranging from seashells to faux cow hair is used to create unique, beautiful bracelets.
Thank you to Victoria Emerson for sponsoring this blog post. All opinions are my own.
The magnetic closure is a genius feature and makes taking the cuffs on and off so effortless and simple. The strong magnet keeps them on securely so no need to worry about these beauties falling off! I have already received so many compliments when wearing my Victoria Emerson pieces; they make a statement and are the perfect touch to any outfit.
The beautiful handmade pieces at Victoria Emerson are sure to put a smile on your face and add the perfect amount of sparkle to your outfit! Right now they are having a sitewide BOGO sale so be sure to grab a few at this steal of a price; I know you will love them!
I have to take a second to rave about their customer service too; most orders are shipped within 1 business day of purchasing which is amazing! I always have a hard time waiting patiently after ordering something online (I'm sure many of you can understand!) and this was such a great perk to shopping with Victoria Emerson! Which piece or style is your favorite?!
